At Choice Aquariums our focus is providing the healthiest livestock to the aquarium hobby. Unlike the other large E-retailers, we own and operate a local fish store in the Metro-Detroit market. Additionally, we have established offsite resources for marine fish & mobile invertebrates, corals, and discus specimens. We operate with state of the art filtration and exceptional animal husbandry protocols to ensure the specimens we provide are in the best of condition. Although we do direct import specimens from the best sources, we are not transshippers, where the specimens are water changed, oxygenated, and shipped-on under stressful conditions. Choice Aquariums' specimens are acclimated into our systems, medicated, fed and observed. We pick, pack and ship your order with the best specimens employing new water with appropriate chemistry, double poly bags filled with oxygen, and sealed with an aluminum band. Our packaging is accomplished with thicker Styrofoam boxes than typically used in the industry to maintain more consistent temperature, and when weather conditions warrant, we include heat or cool packs to sustain the animals appropriately.
Choice Aquariums ships 100% of our livestock from Michigan, where other large E-retailers of livestock primarily ship from Los Angeles California. Choice Aquariums offers comparable selection, exceptional specimen health, and if you live East of the Mississippi, Choice Aquariums is your option to reduce the stress of travel on your specimen, while minimizing shipping costs.
Choice Aquariums does not fit every customer's order into a single flat rate like other livestock E-retailers, nor do we hide box charges or special handling fees. What we give you is a choice. We employ four different package sizes; 6lb, 14lb, and 35lb box, along with a 50lb box for live rock. Our rates are applied by zone from Michigan, simply type in your zip code, and the Choice shipping rates for each box will be displayed, with no other charges to our customer.

Some, more rural areas, may not have Priority DHL service and to purchase our specimens, you may have to Pick-up at DHL. In those parts of the United States where DHL cannot guarantee next day priority delivery, they will hold your package for pick-up at the nearest DHL facility to your home. Please note, that for the Choice 14 Day Warranty to be valid, you must pick-up your package by 12:00 noon on the day of delivery.
There are no other shipping or handling fees, and depending on the size of your order, our system will put the optimal package combination together to best ship your specimen selection while at the same time, minimizing your cost. The only exception to optimizing your shipping cost is when an order includes both saltwater specimens and discus. Discus will be shipped separately and we are unable to pack them with your saltwater specimens. Packages ship based on the day your order was placed or if you've selected Saturday delivery.

Choice Aquariums does not accept returns because of the strict packaging requirements to sustain livestock, we therefore ask you make your specimen selections carefully. Choice Aquariums cannot ship to APO addresses, Post Office Boxes, Alaska, Hawaii, any US Territories, or foreign countries. Choice Aquariums charges Michigan Sales tax on orders shipped within the state or picked-up at the store.
Local customers who select store pick-up and order before 4:30 pm Thursday may elect to pick-up their Internet order at Choice Aquariums on the following Friday at our Farmington Hills location between the hours of 1:00 pm and 8:00 pm. To pick-up an order our customer must have a printed copy of their order confirmation and photo identification such as a valid driver's license.
